Middle-aged and wrecked with compulsive anxieties, Myles is asking pointed questions about his fragmented, abusive past for the first time – and facing escalating resistance from his family.

Summary

As sessions unfold under the guidance of his therapist, Myles discovers the sexual abuse he shared with his brother growing up is something his family simply won’t – or can’t – discuss in detail.

Meanwhile, as a tentative relationship with working, single mom Joni blossoms, Myles soon finds himself fending off her adolescent daughters’ prepubescent advances – just as his own fragmented childhood memories are becoming clearer.

The parallels to situations he found himself in as a boy with his own father unfolded very differently, however.
